Answer: Vertical asymptotes can be found by solving the equation n(x) = 0 where n(x) is the denominator of the function ( note: this only applies if the numerator t(x) is not zero for the same x value). Find the asymptotes for the function. The graph has a vertical asymptote with the equation x = 1.
Inspect the graph to see if any vertical line drawn would intersect the curve more than once. If there is any such line, the graph does not represent a function. If no vertical line can intersect the curve more than once, the graph does represent a function.
If a graph is given, then look for any breaks in the graph. Find the vertical asymptotes (if any) of the graph of the function. The function \(y=\frac{1}{x}\) is a very simple asymptotic function. Therefore the calculation is easy, just calculate the zero (s) of the denominator, at that point is the vertical asymptote.

How do you go from a position vs. time graph to a velocity vs. time graph? The velocity versus time will equal the slope of the position versus time grapsh. The position versus time graph will equal the area below the velocity (to the x-axis) versus time graph. So if velocity is contant, then position (time) = velocity x time.
