If you are using the Online version and wanting to file another person's return, you would have to do a new, separate online account (with a different user ID) for each federal return you want to prepare and purchase for each (if you need to use a paid version of the online software). If you do another return under the same username, it will override the one you already filed and lose everything for that return.
Select Add user. Select the user type you want to create. More options will appear on the screen depending on the user type you select. Enter your new user’s name and email address, then select Save. Now, just have the user log into their email and accept the invitation. You're all set after that.
